My First Stitch Fix

Have you heard of Stitch Fix?

Basically, it's a personal shopping service. Seeing that I have zero time to shop for holiday gifts, I certainly have even less time to shop for myself. Plus, there is that little matter of not really knowing how to pick more up-to-date styles that don't scream *mommy doesn't know how to dress up*. Also, I lost a bit of weight (22lbs to be exact) and I really don't know what the hell I am doing. And, I didn't have to drag my kids kicking and screaming with me to the mall, to wander aimlessly, feeling defeated yet refusing to go home without something in hand, bribing them with every treat underneath the sun.

Plus, what girl doesn't love receiving a box of clothes picked for her in the mail? It's pretty freaking awesome, even if you don't keep everything.

My box arrived yesterday and I ripped into it immediately.

I specifically requested colorful clothes because I am a colorful person. They did alright!
Stitch Fix certainly knows how to package their items and the presentation was awesome. Who knew a box with tissue paper and an envelope of details could elicit so much excitement from a 41 year old mom?
The instructions were simple- try it on with clothes in your closet, keep what you like, send back what you don't....or something like that.
The coolest thing ever was this idea sheet of how to pair your clothes with other clothes. LOVE!
Let's get to what was in the box.

Filbert Floral Print Henley Blouse ($58)
Me: At first glance, I though *meh, it's OK* but then I put it on and loved the feel of the fabric and the colors against my skin. It was nicely fitted but not too tight.
Husband: His favorite of all the clothes- top choice pick for him!
Verdict: Buy

Ivy Striped Tab Sleeve V-Neck Blouse ($68)
Me: I love the colors of this one! The material was pretty thin- you could see right through it. But the shirt did come with a black tank top to wear underneath it. Super silky material, too. This was my second favorite shirt!
Husband: Initially he like it but then he changed his mind and said- no horizontal stripes for you!!!!
Verdict: Undecided

Rhiannon Pleat Detail Sleeveless Blouse ($48)
Me: I loved the color and feel of this shirt but it was nothing special, a little on the boring side for me.
Husband: It's OK but the pleats down the front look like a tuxedo shirt!
Verdict: Return

Lucy Brick Print Split Neck Blouse ($68)
Me: Pretty but too boxy for me.
Husband: It makes you look square.
Verdict: Return

Lanni A-Line Ponte Dress ($128)
Me: It's nice, fits well, and is a great color but they want HOW MUCH for this dress? I just can't justify spending this much on a dress that I might wear 2-3 times a year. The last time I spent this much on a dress it was for a bridesmaid dress- ha!!!
Husband: He loved it, especially since it hugged me in all the right places : ). It was his second favorite piece.
Verdict: Return (but I am going to see if I can find something similar elsewhere).

While I am only buying one (maybe two) of these pieces and returning the rest, I will certainly use Stitch Fix again. It was SO much fun to shop this way and I can't wait to see what my stylist Maria picks out for me.

If you want to check out Stitch Fix and get your own *fix*, then feel free to use my referral link.

What do you think about my *fix?!

I love love love the very first top. I ended up keeping one similar to the boxy top you sent back. Boxy is ok on me right now. I don't need anything hugging my midsection!!

I actually love that "boxy" top on you! You look awesome in everything. I think I'd have a hard time with this clothes service though because I wouldn't know what sizes to request.

The last dress looks fantastic but I'm with you on the price point. Here's to hoping you find something similar at a better price!
