If I was going back to work, I wanted it to be somewhere that I wanted to be, doing something that I enjoyed. I was thinking it would be another year down the road before it happened, though.
Then this job fell into my lap, complete with flexibility and convenience and fun and working with young people, from the very young to teenagers, in a fitness and sports aspect.
How could I turn it down?
I couldn't and I didn't and now here I sit before you, a working mother of three who is slowly figuring out how to balance ALL of my roles and ALL that still has to be done, regardless of whether I work or not.
It's been interesting, to say the least, but I very much enjoy it.
The days are FLYING by. I still get to see my kids off to school and I am home (barely) before they get home from school. We made some schedule and activity changes to our weekday afternoons, freeing up three weekdays, allowing us time to chill out as a family, do homework, have dinner together, etc.
It's working out quite nicely.
The hubby is picking up the slack that my working has created and we are re-creating our roles to make it work for everyone.
I am using my brain differently, back to establishing relationships with clients (members, parents, children), creating class content for youth, brushing off my Excel skills to once again become a master of manipulating data to give me the information I need. I get to plan fun events and sports stuff and classes with the end user (members, families, children) in mind. Above all, getting the job done with a great attitude and FUN is of utmost importance.
It is working out quite nicely.
So far, so good.
