I have things to blog, but something is holding me back.
When I started this blog in Spring of 2006 (goodness I've been blogging for a long time), I began as the traditional mommy blogger
Now, all I really want to write about is health, fitness, running, exercising, etc.
I still want to write once in a while about the family (we're building a house and wheeee! isn't that exciting?) or the kids (I have a post titled Poop Chronicles in my head right now- your welcome) or trips we've taken or will take (think Vegas for my 40th birthday).
BUT,
The posts that really come from my core, from my soul, from my innermost thoughts are the posts about running, or trying new fitness things, or races, or exercise clothes, or about mentoring new runners, or about empowering/supporting/motivating women that are nervous/scare/anxious about trying something new etc etc.
I know it's MY blog, but I also understand that I have an audience- YOU.
Do YOU want me to continue down this running/fitness/exercise path that my body and mind are pushing me to write?
Please speak up, I want to hear from you, all of YOU.
Thank you!!!

As writers we do the best work when we write about what we are passionate about. It's a win for everyone!
I love your posts about running! You inspire *me*.
But I also like the random ones about the kids and can't wait to see pictures of the house.
But yes. Follow your heart. Write about the things that flow from your heart to your fingers.
I think it would be foolish for any reader to assume that a blog is not going to grow/change over time. If you feel more passionately about a new topic, by all means write about it! My only suggestion would be to categorize your posts (if you don't already, which you probably do) so that if someone only wants to read mom posts, they can skip straight to that category. I think it's awesome that you have found a new passion!
We're opposite. I left behind "Endurance Isn't Only Physical" because I didn't *only* want to write about running/healthy living. I just want to write about...anything I want :)
Do what's best for YOU! Don't put yourself in a box. Just be YOU. We'll read whatever you write as long as you do it with passion.
I have blogged about my family & life in general since 2006. Sometimes I loved it, sometimes it felt like a burden - like I had to post something. Last summer, I stated bloggin about what I "thought" I was passionate about - traveling around the US - and have been struggling with it for MONTHS. Just recently I started writing about local fun things to do with the family and it is as if a spark came alive in me - all I have wanted to do the last 3 weeks is write (and I'm so not a writer). I realized that I was doing & writing about what I was passionate about - and I am so happy for it.
My suggestion? If you don't want to merge the 2 - start another one with the fitness theme and continue with your family on this one. That is what I did and it worked great for me.
I can't wait to see what you decide and read your fitness/running tips!

I LOVE your posts about weight loss, fitness, running, etc... Your blog is what inspired me to get my butt off the couch months and months ago because your posts about running were so inspirational. So yes, I really enjoy your blog - fitness, running, weight loss, and more. :)
I'm not into running and fitness...but I still read because I'm interested in YOU. I think you're a cool chick and like reading about all the different mommies out there. And I know how you feel...I've been struggling with my blog lately. Most of my posts are memes or writing about organizing my house. Most other things I WANT to write about, I'm hesitant because of audience issues (only mine is my ex-husband). :P
I enjoy your blog...but I think YOU should enjoy your blog even more. :)
YOU write what YOU want to write about!!
This is YOUR blog and YOUR space to write about whatever the eff you want to write about. I know I love the snippits about your family and all the awesomeness you are doing inspiring new runners (shit-you got me running!). So, bottom line. Do what feels right to you.
And let me know when we're going to Vegas!
Oh, you MUST do whatever your heart/gut is telling you do do. Even if you change it up a bit to a more fitness-based blog you can still add tidbits about the kids, etc. every now and again... no law against that! :)
Its your blog and your life! Write about what makes you happy! That's why we read...
you know i like running/fitness more than mommy stuff. my vote is a no brainer ;)
Well, I'm not a writer, but I can speak from a reader point of view. I can't help but get involved with you on a personal basis when I read your blog. I would say you should write it like you would talk to your BFF, on a training run. And, you know, runner talk covers every aspect of your life!
As a writer, I would think you have to write whatever you want to. Otherwise, it will stop being fun, and you wouldn't write at all.
Write what makes you happy!
