Capitol 10K, Austin TX
I'm going to put it out there.
I am disappointed in my 10K time.
1 hr 15 min 38 seconds with an average pace of 12:11min/mile.
I was so hoping to swing an 11-11:30min pace per mile.
I know, I know, I should be proud of my accomplishment. I know this and I am, BUT I still wish I had done better. I could bore you with all of my excuses as to why I didn't do better did you know that packing and moving for 12+ hours the day before a race and only getting four hours of sleep is NOT conducive to the best race experience?
Before this race, I was all cocky and shit thinking to myself- it's ONLY 6.2 miles and I've already done two half marathons and I'm about to do my third half marathon- this, THIS 6.2 miles will be a piece of cake. Well, it wasn't a piece of cake and I had to fight for this run the entire time.
I had my ass handed to me by Mile 1. Note to self- take it slow at the beginning so that you don't peter out at Mile 1 with a stitch in your side causing you to walk for 5 minutes and drink all of your water. Sidenote- I did run that first mile PRETTY fast, like 10:30 minutes FAST. Woot woot! Also, respect the course and especially the hill portion from Mile 1- Mile 3. SMFD.
Maybe I should have had some kind of strategy for this race instead of just "go run". Eh.
Whatever, I can check this off the list and I'm already thinking about what 10K I can do next, because I just KNOW that I can beat this time. I just KNOW IT.

Bad races can definitely suck! We've all been there and it takes a bit to get the disappointment out of our systems. so go ahead and be disappointed! And then remember that your next one will be your PR. :) I wish I could've been there this morning...well, I was TRYING to get there...stupid traffic. I think you're awesome!!!!
i'm going to ignore your pace comments and say dang girl look how skinny you are!
congrats on your first 10K! :)
I guess it's all in your perspective because I would kill to have your time. And Brooke is right, you look amazing!!
Well I am proud of you for even doing it. You rock lady.
Ok...so I'm right there with Brooke and Nancy!! I would absolutely LOVE to come out of a race with that pace and omg you are lookin' sooooo SKINNY!! Can't wait to hug your skinny body in just under 3 weeks!! Whoohhooo!!
With everything you have gone through the past couple of months I would say that what you did this monring is a great accomplishment!!
The race wasn't what you thought it would be, but you learned a few things. It's another for the bank and now you have a time to beat.
ps-you look fab - love the smile :)
Look at it ths way: You have a 10k PR now. : )
I'm sorry it wasn't the race you wanted to run, but you should be proud of yourself for doing it! I know I am!

bad races only make the good races that much more rewarding. ;p
I don't care what your time was except to say that yes, you can totally beat that. I'm really here to just say that you are one SKINNY ass hooker these days!!! Great job, love you. MWAH!!
I'm jealous of your skinny ass arms, girl. For real!!
I know it was hard, and I know it wasn't you wanted it to be, but you DID it, and I'm so proud of you girl. YOU DID IT!
Thanks guys! I am proud of today's run but next time, I will do even better. As for all the skinny comments, please send me your bill. Also, from now on, I will always take pictures from the side with my hand on my hip : ).
of course you can beat this time but that's not even the point, the point is that you pushed it girl, even when parts of it sucked! don't be disappointed in yourself, you kicked ass! love you!!!!!
