Since May of last year, my husband Anthony has been commuting back and forth to Houston for work, about a 2.5 hour drive from where we live. He stayed and worked during the week, returning home Thursday or Friday night.
He also traveled internationally for weeks at a time from August through November for his job. During that time, we saw very little of him and when he was home, he was trying to recover from jet lag or trying to squeeze in all of his local errands into a short amount of time or dealing with nasty Austin allergies.
It has been rough on me during the last 10 months, especially those times that Anthony was gone for multiple weeks, back to back. VERY rough. I was literally chained to my house - no dinners with friends, noone to snuggle with at night, noone to help me with the children. All of it fell to my shoulders.
I was living the single parent life.
I took up running during this time.
It was hard on the kids as well, especially Sam, manifesting into multiple night wakings and him becoming VERY attached to me. My son, who had had ZERO problems with separation anxiety E-V-E-R, developed separation anxiety, throwing a fit every. single. time. I dropped him off at school or anywhere.
The kids missed him. I missed him. He missed us.
We would not have volountarily choose for it to be the way it was, it just had to be that way. I feel like I was holding my breathe while he was gone, waiting for him to be home again.
But times change.
I am thrilled beyond belief to have my husband back home, where he rightfully belongs. We are a family again, together in the morning and together in the evenings, every single day.
Life is looking good.
P.S. totally off subject, but I am giving away 3 copies of Alvin and the Chipmunks: The Squeakquel over here. Ends 4/23.

Did he get a new job? Well, whatever happened, I'm so glad things will be back to "normal!"! YAY!!!
Glad to hear that he's able to be around more. Single parenting is tough! Hope this trend continues.
Yeah, so happy for you and your family! You both have deserved this for so looong!
That is fantastic news. It will certainly make life easier for everyone, not to mention happy. Also, I hope I win one of the dvd copies. I entered last week. My grandkids would love it. Speaking of grandkids, did you see we had our first grandson yesterday? I posted pictures this morning.
