Tales from the Hill Country (Part 1)

Last weekend, I got together with some of my Shrinking Jeans Sisters
for what we lovingly called "Hooker Retreat".
Hooker is a term of endearment.
After Christy and I retrieved all of our "hookers",
we headed as quickly as possible to the nearest Pappasitos Cantina,
which just so happened to be pretty close to the San Antonio Airport.
We're one happy bunch, aren't we?

After dinner, we loaded up our group and started the
two hour trek to Christy's Hill Country abode.
Check out this view from Christy's front porch!

Pretty awesome once you are there but there is quite a
windey, curvey, up and down, hug-the-cliff road that you
have to traverse prior to reaching her place.  Awesome during the day,
not so awesome late at night in a torrential downpour.  IJS.
My group of ladies was thankful and appreicative
that we came out of that trip alive.
I am sure their families are thankful, too!
The next morning, we woke bright and early so that
we could do our Team in Training long run.
Yeah, it was a Girl's Weekend and we woke our asses up EARLY to RUN
There was some bitching and moaning from a few but I won't name names.
Crazy, I tell you.  A first for me.
Not the running, but the running on a Girls Weekend.
We drove to our running spot, tightened our running shoes,
warmed up our muscles as best as we could......

....and took off!
I ran a measley 8 miles and
20100424_061
then threw in an extra 1-1.5 miles to meet back up
with my Sister who was still going strong.
She ran 10 miles and I am so proud of her.
20100424_057
These two WALKED 8 miles.  WOWSERS.20100424_103
Our pregnant hooker (ha ha) also walked 8 miles.
How awesome is she?
I was laid up on the couch during all of my pregnancies,
the only exercise being my trek to the fridge.
20100424_102
This very pretty mother of one ran 9 miles.
20100424_091
She ran 12 miles and I am pretty much in awe of her bad-ass, mother-truckin' running skillz.20100424_051
Between our entire group of runners, 20100424_046
we logged 63+ miles in just a few hours.
Amanda served as our pit crew and photographer.
She is awesome.
I have to include this picture of Team Shrinking Jeans.
We are running the San Diego Half Marathon early June.
We have fundraised a buttload of money for the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society.
Have you donated yet?
I need a little help to reach my goal.
20100424_105
After the run, we high-tailed back to Christy's place to do some of this.

That brings us up to Saturday, midday.
More to come........

What a great recap! And you weren't talking about me complaining about getting up early, right? I *know* you wouldn't throw me under the bus like that!
