Bright and early this morning
when the weather was a balmy, warm 72 degrees at 6:40am

I went for my longest training run yet
I knew it might get tough towards the end
So I made a "list"
honoring adults and children with cancer
I ran each mile
in honor of or in memory of
these special people

Every time
a negative thought would enter my head, like....
Damn, my feet hurt
Ow, my sore calves
Gosh, it's so hot and it's only 7am
Why the hell am I doing this?
I thought of these folks and all that they have endured
because of cancer
Thinking of them helped me to dig deep when I needed to
This 37 year old mom of three children
who barely started running 7 months ago
RAN 10 MILES THIS MORNING
I am not super-fast
In fact, I would venture to say that I am a slow runner
But it does not matter
I finished 10 miles
In preparation for my half marathon in June
with Team in Training
I challenge each of you: 10 for 10
I ran 10 today
Can you donate 10 bucks
for the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society?
Click here if you are up for the challenge
Thank you.

Oh, Lisa. You are such an inspiration to me. And here I am bitching about a sucky 2 miles. You brought tears to my eyes. I am so proud of how far you have come in 7 months. And you are keepin' it real, girl. Thank you for the reality check. I needed it. Love you!
girl, you are AWESOME!!! and you know what? by most training plans, you are actually READY TODAY to run that half-marathon! My last training plan only took me up to 10 miles with the thought that on race day you can add another 3 without a problem and it was true. so BOOYAH! you're ready girl. LOVE YOU! AND GREAT IDEA! EVERYONE DONATE 10 FOR 10!!!!
The fact that you put it in perspective like that, with your list, just makes me love you even more. And I didn't think I could love you more than I already do!
CONGRATS!!!! 10!!!!!
oh that's me...heather of the eo...i keep logging in stupid.
You are AMAZING! WTG on getting in that long run and thanks for honoring my dad in mile 9. :) Can't wait to meet you in person in San Diego!!
I'm bawling right now. Love you so much.
I used to do that when I was training for the Avon Walk! Sure, it's walking, but 22 miles is a long way (and a freaking long time!) to walk! :) Thinking of all the women with breast cancer kept me going! :) Congratulations on running 10 miles, that's incredible!!!
Very awesome! So proud of you! Love that you dedicated each mile to some very special people.
That is such an amazing way to do it. I agree. If I were doing the run as well, I'd think...these kids/adults went through so much than the little aches in my legs... :) My dad died of AML when I was 2 and I don't remember him unfortunately... I wish there had been better technology back then, maybe he would have survived.
I hope to run next year

YOU ARE AMAZING! Seriously. I'm so freaking proud of you!!!!
ten miles! awesomely awesome! when i walked the honolulu marathon i wrote the name of my beloved patients who'd died of blood diseases on my arms and legs. everyone was doing that. it was a powerfully emotional thing to do.
You are such an inspiration. I love seeing how far you've come in such a short amount of time. Each mile for a different person was a fantastic idea!!!
You are blowing my mind with your awesomeness. I could kiss you right now.
And that list? Frickin' Brilliant. MWAH!
Congratulations Lisa! That is awesome...you are beaming with pride and totally deserve to be!
Keep going...you are doing amazing!
