Cabo in Pictures

The long awaited for "Cabo" post (as in: Cabo San Lucas, Mexico)...... Being parents away from our two young children, we promptly got smashed on the plane ride to Mexico. We drank our Continental airlines flight out of rum, and then we switched to gin, ha ha.

We stayed at Playa Grande Resort, a wonderful, beautiful, luxurious place. We love this place so much that we bought a timeshare there 5 years ago. We have a studio unit, but they upgraded us to a one bedroom suite this trip. For what reason- who knows and who cares. Our one bedroom had TWO bathrooms- Anthony and I were doing the happy dance once we realized they upgraded us!

The picture above is the view from our balcony one way and the picture below is the view the other way. Abolutely gorgeous! Have I mentioned how much we like this place? Here I am with one of the magnificent pools in the background. Our first night there, we went to Pancho's Mexican Restaurant for dinner. Pancho's had over 400 tequilas for sale/tasting. It was so overwhelming to me that I stuck with the house tequila!!!! I ordered one margarita and was dismayed at the size of the glass, but after finishing just one of those puppies, I realized that one glass would do the job just fine. And weird for Cabo in April, but it was actually chilly and I had to don the one sweater I brought with me. Little did I know that I would be wearing that sweater most nights.

For those of you who have read the post below, you know that we discovered this not-for-the-faint-at-heart taco shack/hole in the wall place, literally. Gordo Le Le's was by far our favorite place to eat, and so damn cheap. It was the whole package- good cheap food, a wonderful Cabo feel, entertainment, and just the right ambience we were looking for (plus awesome drinks made in the bar in the alleyway!). Javier, the owner, is a one man show- he's the host, the cook, the cleaner, the show stopper, etc. Javier enterains his guests by singing old Beatles tunes, and he's actually quite good. We spent hours at this place, hanging out, and went back three days in a row for his delicious carne asada tacos. The bartender dude (from the alley) became our friend as we visited him often while at Gordo Le Le's.

Anthony went surfing one afternoon with Pablo, one of Mexico's National Surfing Champions. He had an awesome time and is hoping to make it back to Cabo with some of his guy friends to go surfing. Anyone interested, just contact Anthony.

We didn't do much of anything else, mainly just drink, eat, sleep, and socializing with everyone we met. On afternoon while sitting in the hot tub overlooking the Pacific Ocean, we saw a wlae jumping through the water offshore. It was magnificent to see......

Our last evening in Cabo, we dined at El Pollo de Oro. It wasn't much to look at, BUT the food was so very good, the margaritas were strong, and it was cheap. There were four of us dining and each of us had one margarita, guacamole, and four entrees- grand total: $50!
And last but not least, a few more pictures of the glorious beach one morning.
And last but not least, since we love this place so much, we bit the bullet and bought another timeshare here, but at another hotel: The Mayan Palace (www.mayanpalace.com). Anyone that is looking to head to Mexico in future years, call me up and we'll rent you our new 2 bedroom 2 bathroom place for a "steal". Friends and Family, keep an eye out for an email with info on our new place : ).
Adios, mis amigas. Lisa

Looks like an awesome get-away! I'd love to rent your new place sometime. Mike is promising me an extra-special vacation this year with all the traveling he's done for work. It would be even better if you and Anthony were part of the deal! LOL
